Do you remember the Iron Curtain? Do you long for the nostalgic glow of a vacuum tube radio in your backyard bomb shelter, maybe tuning in Radio Free Europe or a socialist satellite broadcast of scripted party dogma? Well, you can collect this mini poster commemorating the technological promise of utopia and other visual rhetoric with the look and feel of real communist propoganda in an avant garde style that reads, to this bourgeois Westerner, like flat-out kitsch. And although morning DJs are a small price to pay for freedom of speech, I doubt that the announcers pictured here are lampooning their titular heads. So call me a horn-rimmed philatelist, but nothing says 'ideological conformity' quite as distinctively as a Czechoslovakian postage stamp, circa 1963.
